What language is Wakanda? ›

Language. In the comics, Wakanda has three official languages: Wakandan, Yoruba and Hausa. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe characters from Wakanda are portrayed speaking the South African Xhosa language. The Jabari Tribe are portrayed speaking a dialect similar to Igbo from Nigeria.

Unlike most other Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, which have a mid-credits scene and an end-credits scene, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever does not have two post-credits scenes and has has only one scene in the mid-credits, so there's no reason to stay until the end of the full credits.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is a 2022 superhero film, based on the Marvel Comics superhero of the same name. The film is a sequel to Black Panther and Avengers: Endgame. It is the thirtieth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the seventeenth installment of Phase Four.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever premiered at the El Capitan Theatre and the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, on October 26, 2022, and was released in the United States on November 11, as the final film in Phase Four of the MCU.

Wakanda is an amalgamation of African ethnic groups, with its “indigenous” outfits and symbols: cowry shells adornments, grass skirts, decorative scarring and lip plates.

The film ends with Shuri traveling to Haiti to visit Nakia. Calling back to a scene from earlier in the film, Shuri goes to the beach to burn her ceremonial clothing from T'Challa's funeral at the beginning of the film.

The boy reveals that Toussaint is his Haitian name and his Wakandan name is T'Challa, son of T'Challa. The scene works as both a tribute to Chadwick Boseman and a means to allow for a T'Challa to continue to exist in the MCU. It also hits on the core importance of Boseman's character beyond the mantle of Black Panther.

At the end of Wakanda Forever, Coogler sets up the future by once again reflecting on the past in the film's mid-credits scene, in which Nakia, at her home in Haiti, reveals to Shuri that she and T'Challa have a son whose Wakandan name is T'Challa and whose Haitian name is Toussaint.

Vibranium is Not Real

THE MAYAN LANGUAGE IN BLACK PANTHER WAKANDA FOREVER

The Maya used in the film is Yucatec Maya, a variation of the Maya still spoken in the Yucatán Peninsula. According to the actors, they had a native Mayan language coach, Josue Maychi, who is also an actor. Maychi guided them to practice and learn their lines in Maya.

In this way, Haiti is a real-world analog of Wakanda, and Ryan Coogler designed the narrative of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's latest installment to capture the lost nobility and dignity of an island nation with a unique place in Black history.
